CIMAC CIRCLE 2008 In 2008 a CIMAC CIRCLE - a 2 hours' panel discussion - is planned at SMM Hamburg on September 25, 2008, 14:00 h - 16:00 h. Efficient and clean ship transportation - what are the technical solutions? Overseas freight: unthinkable without powerful marine engines. On the seaways, container ships, tankers, and bulk carriers process 80 percent of the world’s flow of commodities. In total, this amounts to about 7.5 billion tons each year (2006). Added to this, there are cruise ships, barges, ferries, fishing boats, and recreational craft. Almost all ships are powered by diesel engines. A lot has happened in the development of marine engines. Modern propulsion engines with highpressure injection systems and increasingly intelligent electronics represent not only high economic efficiency and flexibility, but also everdecreasing fuel consumption, and significantly lower emissions. However, new challenges for the marine industry are coming up due to the foreseen tightening of IMO regulations for NOx and SOx-reduction, having also an influence on marine fuel qualities. This CIMAC Circle will provide experts views of future marine diesel engine scenarios. Don't miss it an get your questions answered! As usual the panel will consist of high-ranking executives from the industry. Further details are still under preparation. As usual participation is free of charge but online pre-registration is required. If you would like to pre-register please click here pre-registration CIMAC Circle 2008 |
