There are frequent discussions between customer and yard about the design of auxiliary systems of ships, however, general rules or standards on this subject are missing. The objective of this WG is to elaborate CIMAC Recommendations about the layout of auxiliary systems and to determine general design rules.

Safe and secure operation of combustion engines is a prerequisite for the reliability and availability of commercial ships. The aim of this Working Group is to identify under which circumstances hot spots are generated and to give recommendations on the application of advanced sensor technologies and systems for detection, analysis and prevention of engine room fires on board ships originating from these hot spots.
