Posidonia 2026, held in Athens in early June, once again demonstrated its role as a leading global platform for the maritime industry, bringing together key shipping stakeholders at a pivotal time for international trade and maritime transformation.
As part of the opening of Posidonia Week, CIMAC hosted a CIMAC Circle event in Athens focused on the major challenges facing the international maritime industry. Organized by CIMAC NMA Hellas, coordinated by Antonios Trakakis and visited by over 80 participants, the event provided a forum for industry leaders and experts to exchange views on the future of shipping.
The discussion featured keynote speaker Christoph Rofka (Accelleron), alongside panelists Kaj Portin (Wärtsilä), Christian Ludwig (Everllence), Ichiro Tanaka (MITSUI E&S), and Fotis Belexis (Star Bulk). Together, they addressed some of the most pressing issues facing the sector, including disruptions to global trade, geopolitical uncertainty, decarbonization, and the growing role of digitalization.
The event highlighted one of the key strengths of the CIMAC Circle format: bringing together diverse perspectives from across the maritime value chain. As the industry navigates a period of profound change, open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and cross-sector collaboration remain essential for developing effective and sustainable solutions.
Special thanks go to Kathrin Lau, who skillfully moderated a highly engaging and thought-provoking exchange of perspectives.
