CIMAC Digitalization Strategy Group met in Helsinki

The CIMAC Digitalization Strategy Group (DStG) brings together experts from engine manufacturers, component suppliers, engineering companies, classification societies, system integration providers and universities. As CIMAC’s strategic platform for digitalization, the group addresses the long-term impact of digital technologies on the maritime industry and promotes a common understanding among key stakeholders.

During its recent meeting at ABB Marine & Ports Division in Helsinki, the group finalized its updated Vision, Mission, Purpose and Values Statement, which will be published shortly. Members also completed preparations for the submission on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) to IMO MSC 112. Further agenda items included a presentation by Everllence’s Organizational Unit “Power” on control systems in the engineering, procurement and construction business, providing valuable insights into systems engineering approaches beyond the maritime sector. The meeting also advanced preparations for the CIMAC Circle at SMM, with discussions focusing on engine control room alert management and human-centered design. On the second day, participants had the opportunity to visit ABB’s Azipod factory and gain first-hand insights into one of the maritime industry's leading propulsion technologies.
