As electrical propulsion and hybrid drive systems continue to gain importance in the maritime industry, the need for coordinated technical expertise and industry dialogue is becoming increasingly significant. CIMAC is therefore establishing a new Working Group, WG 23 "Drives", to bring together experts from across its membership.
The new working group will provide a platform for exchanging knowledge, developing technical guidance, and engaging proactively with relevant regulatory developments, including ongoing discussions at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It will also facilitate the coordination of technical input and foster cooperation with key industry stakeholders.
The kick-off meeting of WG 23 will take place on 10 September 2026 in Frankfurt. It will be open to experts from CIMAC member companies and associations interested in contributing to the group's work. For further information on the new working group and participation in the kick-off meeting, please contact the CIMAC Secretariat.
