The 84th session of the IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 84), taking place in London from 27 April to 1 May 2026, provides important orientation for the future of climate action in international shipping.

The meeting is expected to shape the next steps in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships and to assess the IMO Net-Zero Framework, whose adoption was postponed from 2025. Key discussions focus on the development of mid-term measures under the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy. The session also addresses the review and strengthening of existing measures, as well as broader environmental topics such as fuel lifecycle assessment, data transparency, and underwater radiated noise.
CIMAC participates in the meeting. We will provide further insights into the outcomes at the upcoming CIMAC Town Hall on 8 May. To register, click here
